Dr. Rosnov-Castelar is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and the practice owner. She earned her Master’s Degree in clinical psychology from Western Carolina University. She, then, went on to earn her doctoral degree in clinical child psychology from the University of Kansas and completed her internship and post-doctoral training at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware. Dr. Rosnov-Castelar specializes in providing psychotherapy and psychological evaluation services to children and adolescents. Dr. Rosnov-Castelar has worked in a variety of settings including private practice, schools, outpatient community mental health centers, children’s hospitals, and primary care offices. Working in these diverse venues has allowed Dr. Rosnov-Castelar to gain experience and expertise in treating children, adolescents, and adults with a broad range of psychological issues including anxiety, depression, ADHD/behavior disorders, autism spectrum disorders, mood disorders, grief, and adjustment to parent separation/divorce, among others. Dr. Rosnov-Castelar approaches therapy primarily from a cognitive-behavioral and/or developmental perspective.
Cara Schmid is a Virginia licensed clinical psychologist. She has specialized in the treatment of eating disorders and borderline personality disorder and has worked with both adolescent and adult clients. She has extensive experience in conducting individual, group, and family therapy along with comprehensive training in both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Dr. Schmid received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and her Psy.D. from Long Island University/C.W. Post.
Dr. Schmid will be joining our practice in mid-September, 2024.
Michelle Lam is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 15 years of experience providing direct mental health services. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Virginia Tech and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. Michelle’s experience includes working in a variety of settings including local Community Services Boards, supported employment programs, and in-home supports. Through her experience, Michelle has worked primarily with adults with a broad range of psychological issues to include anxiety, depression, ADHD, personality disorders, and autism spectrum disorders. Additionally, she has experience working with children, adolescents, and families focusing on finding solutions and improving communication. Michelle’s clinical skills include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
Racheal Machaka is a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 10 years of experience providing direct mental health service. She earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of Nebraska Omaha. She has experience working with children, young adults, and adults across a number of clinical settings including residential treatment, Intensive In-home, Therapeutic Day Treatment, University setting, community settings and Crisis Response. She has worked with clients with a range of psychological issues to include depression, anxiety, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, mood disorders, low self-esteem, suicidal ideation, self-harm, trauma, and family relationship problems. She utilizes Mode deactivation therapy, cognitive-behavior therapy, strength-based therapy, client centered approach and positive psychology to aid in stabilization and promote skill building and positive growth. Racheal is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Racheal is a Board approved Supervisor to provide supervision to LPC and LMFT residences.
Kymberly Logar is a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 12 years of experience providing direct mental health services. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Florida State University and her Master’s Degree in Education, with a focus in Community Agency Counseling from George Mason University. Kymberly's experience includes working in a variety of settings through local Community Services Boards, supporting residential and outpatient programs. Through her experience, Kymberly has worked primarily with adults with a broad range of psychological issues to include anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and addiction. Additionally, she has experience working with community partners to support clients in their ability to live and thrive independently. Kymberly's clinical skills include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. In her off time, Kymberly enjoys hiking, writing and engaging with community activities that promote health and wellness.
Emily Rakosi is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with five years of experience providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and young adults. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Virginia, and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Michigan. Emily’s experience includes working in two outpatient psychiatric clinics for children and adolescents, as well as providing counseling and social work services in an international school. Through these experiences, Emily has developed a specialty in treating anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and depression in children and adolescents. She utilizes evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, along with family and systems theory to support families and young people in their healing journeys.
Louise Chapman is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and Colorado, allowing her to have experience working in a wide range of practice settings. Louise works with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. Louise has developed a specialty in treating mood disorders, trauma, parent-child conflict, social struggles, and stress management. She is passionate about welcoming and creating a safe space for clients from all backgrounds, cultural identities, and belief systems. Louise works relationally with a trauma-focused, attachment-based, and client-centered lens, empowering individuals and family systems to explore and identify their strengths, values, and goals.
Caitlin Durney is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience of over 13 years working with diverse client populations and over 9 years providing direct clinical services to children, adolescents and adults ranging from ages 18-late 90s. Focusing on her passion for serving & empowering others, Caitlin earned both her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings including psychotherapy private practices, child advocacy volunteer programs, child welfare agencies, adult outpatient community mental health centers.
As a clinician, Caitlin focuses on building rapport with clients to establish a safe & trusting therapeutic environment. She utilizes a trauma-informed, person-centered and integrated approach, working collaboratively with clients to guide their own therapeutic process. Caitlin implements a myriad of therapeutic techniques/modalities such as skill building (conflict-resolution, communication, social skills), strengths/value-based, solution-focused therapy, positive psychology, motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, mindfulness, etc. She addresses symptom management for clinical concerns including, but not limited to, chronic stress, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, adjustment disorders, trauma, PTSD, grief & loss, compassion fatigue/burn-out, ADHD, executive functioning, activities of daily living, etc.
Sarah Elkins is a Nationally Certified Counselor and EMDR trained therapist who’s passionate about helping a wide variety of clients reach their goals. Sarah has extensive experience working with adults, adolescents, and children in a wide range of settings such as intensive in-home treatment, community-based care, and crisis response. Sarah works with a myriad of presenting problems and concerns that include but are not limited to anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship issues, work stress, trauma and PTSD, mood disorders, low self-esteem, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and family relationship problems. Sarah has a special interest in working with neurodiverse clients such as those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and other neurodiverse presentations. She has a special interest and passion for working alongside members of marginalized groups such as women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Sarah uses a combination of several evidence-based treatment modalities with her clients that are focused on the whole mind body approach to provide the best possible client-centered care. Some modalities that Sarah uses in her practice include Person-Centered Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).
Amy Dahmann is a Nationally Certified Counselor and Resident working to become a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. She graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Master’s Degree in Applied Child Development and a Master’s Degree in Human Developmental Counseling. Amy has worked in both school settings as well as outpatient clinics. For the past 6 years, Amy lived and worked abroad at U.S. Embassies in Jordan and Bahrain supporting Foreign Service, military professionals and their families through the stress, anxiety, and uncertainty that often accompanies large transitions. Additionally, she has worked with individuals on parenting, communication within relationships, boundary setting, and executive-functioning skills for ADHD. Amy aligns with post-modern counseling methods such as solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, and incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy techniques into her client care.
Dr. Alami is a Resident in Psychology and is supervised by Dr. Rosnov-Castelar. Dr. Alami earned her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
Dr. Alami’s passion for supporting children and adolescents can be noted in her training over the past several years in working with young clients who struggle with ADHD, depression, general and social anxiety, disordered eating, and emotional or behavioral regulation challenges. When working with children and adolescents, she holds a strong belief in the power of collaborating with parents and/or family members to establish ways to help their child adapt in multiple settings (i.e. home and school).
Dr. Alami also has specific interests and specialties in assessment and evaluation, with children, adolescents, and adults. She conducts psychological testing to clarify diagnoses and the underlying causes of behavioral or learning challenges so that interventions and supports can be targeted towards the client’s unique needs. Aside from working with children and adolescents, Dr. Alami also enjoys working with young adults and adults. Dr. Alami tends to utilize Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT), but she tailors her treatment approach to each individual client as she understands that therapy is not a "one-size fits all" approach.
Lastly, Dr. Alami is Iranian American and is able to conduct therapy sessions in Farsi.
